While we never did get The Evil Within 3 (which it turns out, eventually became Ghostwire: Tokyo), a recent Easter Egg found in developer Tango Gameworks’ newest game seems to hint that we may still get it. Kill fast and with “SSStyle” to rack up combos and gain points that can be used on weapon variations between missions, while soaking in blood regains your health. But now that blood is starting to run out on the surface, machines are racing to the depths of Hell in search of more. Gloomwood makes use of a stealth and sound system that tracks your light visibility and propagates noise accurately through the world, so tread lightly and use sound to distract your foes.Ĭontrasting the stealth of Gloomwood is Ultrakill, a fast-paced ultraviolent old school FPS that sees mankind having gone extinct, and the only beings left on earth are machines fueled by blood. Armed with your canesword, six-shot revolver and more, you’ll be sticking to the shadows as you navigate the city. You have to rely on stealth, your wits and your array of weapons to survive. Gloomwood is inspired by classic stealth-action game Thief that sees you trapped in a Victorian city consumed by an ancient curse. As a way to make up for the delay, Arsi “Hakita” Patala’s bloody arena shooter Overkill will have its Act II update arrive on Steam on August 16th. The shooter will now arrive on Steam on September 6th. New Blood Interactive took to Twitter last night to announce that Dillon Rogers and David Szymanski’s Gloomwood will be bumped back a few weeks from its original Early Access launch on Steam. However, that’s good new for fans of Ultrakill. The enemies have a rather caricatured appearance and different colored cones are visible to symbolize their field of vision and alert state. If you’ve been keen to get in on New Blood Interactive’s upcoming Victorian Survival Horror shooter Gloomwood ( Neil and Jay had their own sneak peek at it), you’ll have to wait a bit longer. The game was developed in a retro style, modelled on the PC games from the late 1990s, especially in the first two parts of the Thief cycle. Four difficulty modes have been prepared, which differ not only in how dangerous enemies are, but also in the frequency of finding ammunition and the limitations of the save system. Gloomwood offers single player mode only. Many types of traps are also available to us. When we decide to fight, we can use an arsenal including a cane with a hidden sword, a six-shot revolver and a rifle with a harpoon. The game also gives us a large selection of various useful actions, such as leaning out from around the corners, looking through door slots, eavesdropping on conversations or pulling up and down from overhanging elements. Gloomwood offers extensive stealth game mechanics, including hiding in the shadows and realistic simulation of sound propagation. Thanks to this, the game reacts dynamically to our actions. On top of that, the behavior of enemies and NPCs is governed by sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms. There are also plenty of treasures and valuables waiting to be discovered, including some that can only be obtained by finding the key to a locked room or the combination to a safe. The maps are full of alternative paths and hidden passages. However, we can't afford it too often, because we don't find large amounts of ammunition during the game, so every bullet is important. The hero is weak, so it usually pays to use a sneaky approach, but the character is not vulnerable and can effectively eliminate enemies in open confrontations if necessary. The player is given a lot of freedom to explore each map and to choose the methods of task completion. Gloomwood is a first person immersive sim action game. We learn much of the plot by listening in on conversations and finding and reading various documents and notes. The player controls the hero who is kidnapped to this metropolis and will have to survive and discover who is responsible for what happened to him and the state of the city.
